Dr. Gaby Szteinberg was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and after 10 years moved to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where she attended an international middle school and high school program. This opened the doors for Gaby to attend college in the United States. Gaby obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Lawrence University, and her PhD in Chemical Education at Purdue University. Her very first job ever, after so many years of school, was as a Project Coordinator for the General Chemistry Supplemental Program at WashU, which includes Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) and Residential Peer Mentoring (RPM). Over the years, Gaby started to get involved with four-year advising and progress counseling. This led to Gaby joining the College Office in 2021, as an Assistant Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences. In this role, Gaby serves as a four-year advisor, progress counselor, pre-health advisor, and Academic Integrity Officer. Gaby has a passion for helping students thrive in their education, and also get to where they want to be in their future careers, by promoting a growth mindset and resilience, through collaboration with peers, staff, and instructors.
In her spare time, Gaby learns languages on Duolingo (22 languages on the list, although the focus shifts from one language to the other, depending on the week), enjoys swimming, walking, and biking, and connects with her family and friends in Argentina, Bolivia, England, and other parts of the world.
