Meet the 2022 Junior Jumpstart Student Ambassadors

Junior Jumpstart is an annual conference that traditionally has a significant presence on campus in May of every spring semester. Here, juniors engage with leaders, recent alumni, and field experts to learn more about life after graduation. During the pandemic, the conference shifted to a remote-learning format; and for 2022 Junior Jumpstart is slated to be in-person on campus. Junior Jumpstart is a paramount experience, initiating the final stages of the academic journey, as students rise up into their final year at WashU.

Organizing Junior Jumpstart is no small feat. A planning committee, consisting of deans, directors and advisors from across the university, collaborate on logistics, marketing, event programming, and more year-round. To ensure the event is a success, relevant, and dynamic, a student perspective is a must. This year, the Junior Jumpstart committee is pleased to welcome three students to serve not only on the planning committee, but to be the official Junior Jumpstart Ambassadors. Read below for more information about the Ambassadors, as they embark on engaging the Class of 2023 throughout the spring semester.

Zoe Berry

Zoë Berry is a junior McKelvey Engineering student from Silver Spring, Maryland. She is pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Korean Language and Culture. Zoë is the current president of String Theory, WashU’s knitting and crochet club, as well as a resident advisor in Dardick House. She also works as a tutor for Engineering Undergraduate Student Services and as a teaching assistant in the CSE department. In her free time, Zoë creates and sells knitted accessories through her business, Zoë Knitz.

Daniel Chertow

Daniel Chertow is a third-year Arts & Sciences student (graduating this Spring!) majoring in Biology and minoring in Anthropology (Global Health and Environment). He was interested in joining the Strategic Planning Committee after looking at all the potential success that this event can help students in exploring their future prospects. He believes that he can help make a positive impact in allowing this to happen. Daniel is involved with a lot of activities on campus such as Challah for Hunger and being a Residential Peer Mentor for the Introductory General Chemistry classes, and hopes to leverage his skills from these activities (among many other activities/experiences!) to help design and produce a Junior Jumpstart that will help all junior students in the most beneficial way possible.

Carré Sadler

Carré Sadler is a junior Arts & Sciences student studying English Literature and creative writing. She serves as the president of the Questbridge Scholars Network on campus as well as the NOIR collective for storytellers. When she’s not curating playlists for her favorite world saving heroes or perfecting her southern style baked goods, Carré can be found searching for lost folklore and traditions.
