Ingrid was raised in Detroit, Michigan, but she has lived most of her life in St. Louis, her husband’s home town. She came to WashU in 1995 to pursue a PhD in political science and liked it so much she has refused to leave. She gravitated to the College Office because of her passion for helping people identify and develop their strengths and talents, and her favorite part of the job is getting to know students and watching them overcome challenges.
A proponent of mindfulness as a tool for managing stress and anxiety, Ingrid is currently studying to become a mindfulness coach and is happy to share tips with anyone who is interested. She spends much of her spare time enjoying her two teenage sons and reminding herself how much she will miss being teased and serving as the butt of their jokes after they leave for college.
