Laboratory Astronomy Using Microscopes

Presolar grains found in pristine meteorites are stellar relicts that predate our solar system. They enable the study of bona fide stellar materials in the laboratory, where the full battery of modern micro-analytical techniques can be brought to bear on them. In this talk, I will present isotopic and structural compositions of presolar dust grains from different types of stars obtained in laboratory and discuss their stellar formation environments and links to astronomical observations.
