Intimate Partner Violence and Asylum in the Americas: Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru

Intimate Partner Violence and Asylum in the Americas: Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru

On Jan 30, the new Center for Human Rights, Gender and Migration will launch a groundbreaking report with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, entitled Intimate Partner Violence and Asylum in the Americas: Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru.

The report examines barriers that survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) face in the asylum application, interview, and adjudication processes in Canada, Chile, Mexico, and Peru.

After a brief presentation of the Center's research findings, we will engage (4) experts from across campus in a discussion about intersecting challenges of migration, gender, and service provision:

Professor Tonya Edmond (Social Work);

Professor Tabea Linhard (Spanish and Comparative Literature);

Professor Katie Meyer (Law);

Professor Lindsay Stark (Public Health).

The launch will be held on 30 January 2020 at 12:30 p.m. in 132 Goldfarb Hall, at the Brown School. Lunch will be provided.
