Psi Chi

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.  Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining scholarship in, and advancing the science of, psychology. Membership is open to undergraduates who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications.

Requirements for membership are:

            1.  Completion of at least three semesters of full-time courses, not including the current semester.

            2.  Completion of at least nine units of psychology courses.

            3.  Declaration of a major or minor in psychology.

            4.  Minimum overall GPA of 3.00 or higher.

            5.  Minimum 3.30 GPA in psychology classes.

            6.  Ranking in the top 35% of one’s undergraduate class in overall GPA.

Please attach a copy of your Student Record Printout, available on your Webstac account (https://acadinfo.wustl.edu).

The deadline for submission is Monday, September 22.  You will be notified promptly if your admission has been approved.

The Psi Chi National Membership fee is $35 and the chapter fee is $15 (total $50).  This one-time fee includes a lifetime Psi Chi membership and the Certificate of Membership.  Please submit a check for $50 (made out to Psi Chi) with your application.  If you are not accepted to Psi Chi, your check will be voided and returned to you.  In addition to completing the attached application, please also be certain to fill out the Psi Chi registration card.

Place your completed application (including your $50 check, registration card, one-page answer to the question on the application form, and Student Record Printout) in Psi Chi’s mailbox located in the Psychology Building’s mailroom, room 207A.

The initiation ceremony to welcome our new members will be held on October 20, in a location to be announced.  As you may know, our chapter of Psi Chi sponsors several events for our undergraduates.  This semester, we will be hosting an Applying to Graduate School forum, an information session on PhD/PsyD/MSW/M.D in psychiatry, an opportunity to attend a presentation by a mental health expert, and a service event.

Members who faithfully attend Psi Chi events will be granted the opportunity to participate in a special activity to be detailed at a later date.

We look forward to receiving and reviewing your application.  If you have any questions, please contact Mackenzie Leonard, President (mleonard9187@gmail.com) or Kay Eastman, Vice President (steastma@wustl.edu)

Sincerely,
