WELCOME to our Performance History and Research site! Inaugurated by the Washington University Performing Arts Department's dance history students from the Spring 2007 semester, this site contains portals to ongoing student research in the performing arts.
As time goes on, we anticipate including articles not only about dance history but dance ethnography, theater history, costume design, circus arts, musical theater, popular culture and other topics in the study of Performance and Culture. We will also provide links to other websites allowing you to discover and explore the work of contemporary performance companies creating socially relevant art — the kind of art that makes history!
In addition to our articles and links to contemporary performance resources, we invite you to consult our complete student-annotated bibliography of resources used to develop the research published on this site. We hope you will consult our work in the spirit of respect and the collaborative learning upon which this project was founded.
ENJOY!
