• Coursework that should be completed prior to study abroad: Econ 401 and Econ 402. Students studying abroad for the whole academic year should contact the Study Abroad advisor early in the prior academic year to discuss these prerequisites.
• Guidelines for coursework taken abroad: Courses taken abroad must have a prerequisite of at least principles of microeconomics and/or principles of macroeconomics (i.e., WU's Econ 103B and/or 104B).
• Maximum study abroad credits applicable to the major/minor: Majors can receivecredit for up to two 103/104 prerequisite electives; minors can receive credit for at most one 103/104 prerequisite elective. Limits exist on the maximum number of transfer credits -- see the Economics Undergraduate Guide.
• Minimum grades on study abroad coursework for major/minor credit: Coursework must be taken for a letter grade (or numerical equivalent) and a student must receive a C- or better in order to receive academic transfer credit.
• Portfolio/other requirements for major/minor credit: Students should bring the course syllabus and examples of the coursework (graded exams, readings packet, homework sets, etc.) to the exit interview with the Study Abroad advisor in the semester after studying abroad. The Study Abroad advisor will contact the student to make arrangements for the exit interview.

Tübingen Year and Semester Abroad Program

• Maximum study abroad credits applicable to the major/minor: No maximum limit on study abroad credits applicable to the major/minor. During the semester abroad, students must complete at least one course in German literature, culture, or art, history, or politics. Students spending two semesters abroad must complete at least one course in German literature, culture, or art, and at least one course in German history or politics. Students planning to major in German must return to Washington University to take one 400-level German course.
• Minimum grades on study abroad coursework for major/minor credit: For the year abroad program, students must enroll in and successfully complete GER 302D with a grade of B- or better.
• Coursework that should be completed prior to study abroad: It is also highly recommended that students complete GER 401, 404 or 408. For the semester abroad program, students must complete German 301D with a grade of B- or better in order.
• Portfolio/other requirements for major/minor credit: Students in the year program may receive up to three German credits if they submit a total of four reports (Erfahrungsberichte) of 10 pages (250 words a page, double spaced and typed) to the department. Students in the semester program may receive two German credits for writing three Erfahrungsberichte.

• Maximum study abroad credits applicable to the major/minor: Maximum of 6 units towards major for a semester program/ 9 for an academic year.
• Minimum grades on study abroad coursework for major/minor credit: Grade of B- or higher on study abroad coursework required for major/minor credit.
• Portfolio/other requirements for major/minor credit: Portfolio of coursework abroad required for major/minor credit. Submit to Study Abroad Advisor upon return from study abroad.

• Maximum study abroad credits applicable to the major/minor: Maximum of 2 courses towards the Political Science major (students shoud be aware that only 2 non-departmental courses may be counted toward the major, including study abroad, U College, other U.S. institutions, etc.). Minor: maximum of 1 course taken abroad (same restrictions as above).
• Minimum grades on study abroad coursework for major/minor credit: Grade of B- or higher required for course abroad to receive major/minor credit.
• Portfolio/other requirements for major/minor credit: Students are required to keep all written work and exams in the event questions arise over their performance abroad; same materials must be presented to the Study Abroad Advisor upon request only.
