Areas of Study
WU is offering this program for political science students only for admission to the renowned Government Department. This prestigious British university offers many other subjects from which these students may select to round out their semester schedules. Majors other than political science must file petition with departmental endorsement in order to attend University of Essex.

Eligibility
Political Science major or minor. 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have appropriate background of prior coursework or courses in progress.

The University's main campus sits in landscaped parkland on the outskirts of Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain, east of London, close to the English Channel.
Housing
Essex has a range of accommodation suited to a variety of needs, all within walking distance of the academic departments and campus facilities. Every flat has self-catering facilities, including microwave oven and freezers, and each room has a telephone with free internal service and a connection point with access to the internet and university networks without additional charge.
Student Life
On campus there are over 100 clubs students can join. There is a dance club and theater and a couple of bars on campus where students can socialize and relax. There are special events, such as the Students' Union Summer Ball. This event is an all night black tie extravaganza featuring well known live acts, fairground rides, and a huge fireworks display. Essex University is east of London (less than an hour by train) near the English Channel. The village of Wivenhoe is less than a mile away from the campus with its lively quayside and variety of pubs and restaurants.

Application Process
The application process differs based on your department's approval of this program.
If this program is approved by your department you must submit a completed WU Semester/AY Study Abroad Application with program-specific forms to the Overseas Programs office in McMillan 138. If this program is not approved by your department, then you must meet with Jennifer White Reding before proceeding with your application.
