Jazz Combos
Coaches: Kara Baldus, Maurice Carnes, William Lenihan, Vince Varvel, Ben Wheeler

The Jazz Combo Program is the focal point for the performance aspect of the jazz program in the Department of Music and focuses primarily on the development of skills necessary for improvisation. As well, students are are exposed to an overview of the jazz repertoire. The groups are coached and taught by professional musicians from the jazz community of St. Louis and meet once per week for a coaching session, the time of which is decided per group. The study and rehearsals culminate in a concert performance at the end of each semester.
