Professional Organizations: Links for ESL

 

 

American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL)
The AAAL web site says, "AAAL members promote principled approaches to language-related concerns, including language education, acquisition and loss, bilingualism, discourse analysis, literacy, rhetoric and stylistics, language for special purposes, psycholinguistics, second and foreign language pedagogy, language assessment, and language policy and planning."


Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL)

CAL says, "CAL is a private, non-profit organization: a group of scholars and educators who use the findings of linguistics and related sciences in identifying and addressing language-related problems. CAL carries out a wide range of activities including research, teacher education, analysis and dissemination of information, design and development of instructional materials, technical assistance, conference planning, program evaluation, and policy analysis."


International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL)
IATEFL is an organization for EFL professionals (that is, English language teachers, program administrators, etc. working in a place where English is not a primary language).


Mid-America Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (MIDTESOL)

This TESOL affiliate serves Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska

TESOL is an organization for ESL professionals worldwide
