Photo by Tony H. Y. Cheng, 2012.I'm a philosopher at Washington University in St Louis and I work on the philosophy of language and logic, and epistemology. I wrote this book on the analytic/synthetic distinction, and edited this one on the philosophy of langauge with Delia Graff Fara and this one on philosophical logic with Greg Restall. I've also published papers on topics like barriers to implication and logical pluralism. You can see my CV here: [pdf]
I'm originally from the UK, where I was an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. I did my Ph.D. at Princeton (2004).
I also really like to travel to do research in other places. I have spent many fine (northern) summers as a visiting scholar at Melbourne University. I was Killam Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta in 2005, a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley in the spring of 09, and a visiting fellow at Tilburg Center For Logic and Philosophy of Science (TiLPS) in the Netherlands in the fall of 2009. In my spare time I do a lot of martial arts, including teaching a club at Wash U.
