I'm presently still an associate professor in the philosophy department at Washington University in St Louis, though in July 2015 I'll be moving to take up a position as full professor at UNC Chapel Hill.

I wrote a book on the analytic/synthetic distinction called Truth in Virtue of Meaning, and edited this one on the philosophy of language with Delia Graff Fara and this one on philosophical logic with Greg Restall. I've published papers on topics like barriers to implication and logical pluralism and I'm currently working on a new book on barriers to entailment. You can see my CV here: [pdf]

I'm originally from the UK, where I was an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. I did my Ph.D. at Princeton University (2004).

I also really like to travel to do research in other places. I have spent many happy (northern) summers as a visiting scholar at Melbourne University. I was Killam Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta in 2005, a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley in the spring of 09, and a visiting fellow at Tilburg Center For Logic and Philosophy of Science (TiLPS) in the Netherlands in the fall of 2009. In my spare time I do a lot of martial arts, including teaching a club at Wash U.

You can read an interview with me in 3:AM Magazine here.
