“The Arts and Sciences Peer Advising Program is one of the strongest of its kind in the nation. Having it on our campus strengthens our overall advising and allows us to consistently involve upper-class students in the very important process of successfully transitioning first-year students into the academic life of the University.” - Mary Laurita, Assistant Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, PA Program Director |
|
History of the Program It was actually a student idea! Former Chancellor Danforth held a town meeting with students, and they voted to create a Peer Advising Program. In 1994, Delores Kennedy, Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences first started the Peer Advising Program. In 2000, Mary Laurita, Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences, took over the program. And currently, there are over 115 Peer Advisors! |
