Study Abroad

Study abroad for a semester, a year, or a summer is available to students in the Classics Department and many of our students take advantage of the opportunity to study in Athens through the College Year in Athens Program or at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome.  Although Greece and Italy are of obvious interest to students engaged in the study of the Greco-Roman world, other opportunities are available for overseas study.  In recent years, Classics and Ancient Studies students have also chosen to study in England, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Typically students study abroad during their junior year.  Interested students should consult the Overseas Office first and then make an appointment with their advisor.  In order to be assured of transfer credit in the Classics Department, students must consult with their advisor prior to beginning the Study Abroad Program.

Archaeological Field Work

Students with an interest in both Classics and Archaeology may want to consider taking part in an archaeological project in the Mediterranean.  For fieldwork opportunities see the links below. Interested students should consult Professor Susan Rotroff (srotroff@artsci.wustl.edu) in the Classics Department.
