Students will be selected who, in light of all pertinent qualifications, experiences, and attributes, would contribute to the diversity of graduate education at Washington University. The University believes that student body diversity entails many dimensions, and is advanced on campus by having a broad variety of cultural, socioeconomic, gender, racial, ethnic, geographical, philosophical/religious, and other distinctive backgrounds and perspectives (e.g., first generation college graduates, experience facing personal or financial hardship). Students must have earned or be in the process of earning an undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution.
Candidates should be interested in becoming college or university professors and they must be admissible into any of Washington University's academic programs leading to a research doctorate:
- Business Administration
- Biological and Biomedical Sciences
- Engineering
- Humanities
- Mathematical and Physical Sciences / Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Social Work
Also eligible are students who are interested in becoming college or university professors and who are admissible to graduate programs offered by the Washington University Schools of
- Architecture
- Art
- Law
Applications, with all supporting documents, are due in the Office of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences by January 25 preceding the academic year for which application has been made. Applicants for Chancellor's Graduate Fellowships must also apply to the department or school (listed above) at Washington University in which they plan to study. Please check with the department or school of interest for their application deadlines (usually January 15, but sometimes as early as December 1).
