Glenn Stone has varied interests in new media, including web-based anthropology and ethnographic documentation (with grad student Gareth Barkin). One current project concerns internet kiosks in India. Students in his India program have developed indigenous photoblogs and videoblogs.

Derek Pardue studies the role of community, low-wattage radio stations in the working-class periphery neighborhoods in Sao Paulo, Brazil as polemical spaces of public life and pragmatic citizenship. Geoff Childs and grad student Gareth Barkin have written about how fears of genocide prompted Tibetan exiles to use images in their health literature to promote pronatalism and ethnic endogamy. Liv Hinegardner is conducting dissertation research on the cultural politics of political media in Mexico City.
