Funding Source Assignment: Preliminary posting due 2/3

For your funder, collect the following information. Sources of information include the funder's published and online material (and possibly the appropriate staff officer) and various local resource people (formal support personnel, members of panels or committees, former staff officers, successful applicants).

For the next class you will present a report on the funder and distribute a 2-5 page preliminary report. You will continue working on this report over the next week (e.g., adding information on issues that may come up in discussion), and post it on the web so that others in the seminar can keep a copy.

This info is going to be assembled in a dept-only webpage.

Items to be investigated:

• URL (addresses, phone, fax if not readily available on web)
• Contact people
• Eligibility (including specifics on others in seminar!)
• Geographical areas funded
• Topics funded (list of projects if possible)
• Deadlines
• Program details
• Proposal length/form
• Amount available
• Budget items funded
• Review process
• Applications, success rates
• Inside scoop on preferences
• Trends & changes
• Local info sources (e.g., anyone in dept who has been funded or participated in review process)
• Example of successful proposals
• Other (perceptions, misconceptions, etc.)
