John W. Bennett, one of the most brilliant and productive researchers of historical and ecological anthropology, and the founder of Washington University's Department of Anthropology, passed away on 2 Feb 2005. John's last work was a remarkable web-based exploration of his experiences as a social scientist in occupied Japan, featuring stunning photography and insightful commentaries. It is viewable at The Ohio State University library website.
