 
2007: In summer 2007 the Department of Anthropology started a unique six-week study abroad program in rural Warangal District, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is designed and directed by Prof. Glenn Stone, who had been conducting research in Warangal since 2000. The program is aimed at self-starter students with an interest in experiencing village life in India, and in service-learning through teaching in an Indian classroom. Based at the Pai Junior College (run by the Hyderabad-based Rural Development Foundation) students participated in arts or research projects and taught courses to high school students.

2008: In 2008 the Village India Program had a successful summer, with students focusing on arts and also research projects. See the IRDF 2008 website and this photo display on Flickr.
2009-10: In 2009 and 2010 the Village India Program was directed by Prof. Ken Botnick of the
Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts.
2012: After a 1-year hiatus, the Village India Program will be offered in summer 2012.
