Curriculum
Arts & Sciences teaches the basic knowledge upon which all other fields are built, embracing subjects central to all areas of human endeavor. It is home to nearly two-thirds of the University’s undergraduate majors and directs the University’s PhD programs. Students enrolled in the other Washington University schools of Design and Visual Arts, Business, and Engineering and Applied Science also take courses in Arts & Sciences as part of their undergraduate degree requirements. Arts & Sciences is committed to a curriculum that offers superior learning and research opportunities to students and faculty, while building on a history of successful programs that reach across departmental and school boundaries.
