Research Interests
Professor MacDonald has published three books on Berlioz and has worked extensively in French music, especially Berlioz, Bizet, and Massenet, also in Russian and Czech music. His Skryabin appeared in 1978, and he has published studies of Mozart, Schubert, Liszt, Janácek and others. He has translated a number of operas in singing versions for the English National Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and other companies.
