This page describes the assignments to be completed prior to each workshop.  You should consult this page the day before each workshop so that you are prepared for that days' activities.

Assignment to be completed prior to Workshop 1:

You should visit the workshop site and contribute to the bulletin board discussion by clicking on the icon marked "discussion" in the upper right corner of the page.  (click here for detailed instructions for logging onto the bulletin board)  Please introduce yourself, state your expectations for these workshops, and list three ways you think the web can assist you in your professional development.  You will also need to bring the following:

 

Assignment to be completed prior to Workshop 2:

Your should list on the bulletin board three ways the web could be used to enhance your teaching skills.  You should also list your experiences with technology in the classroom.
 

Assignment to be completed prior to Workshop 3:
 
Collect materials for course site (URLs, images, texts, etc.). Save these resources to disk following the instructions provided in workshop two. Complete your sketch of your course site (worksheet #2 from workshop two).

Assignment to be completed prior to Workshop 4:

In order for us to have a productive workshop tomorrow it is important that you visit the course bulletin board tonight and post at least one idea for an activity designed for the course you are developing. The activity must require your students to interact with the web. The exercise might draw on resources including web pages, email, or newsgroups. In addition to thinking about potential web resources you should consider:

Peruse the distributed learning resources listed on our resources page and those you may find with your own search. Given your experience this week, speculate as to the opportunities created by the instructional technologies we've sampled. What challenges are posed to you by the use of these technologies for teaching, research, and the job hunt? (be sure to include in your comments some consideration of the video conferencing technology we used this week.) Please submit your comments to the Workshop Discussion.
