Thach, Dean, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Re: Student Health Fee and Graduate School Subsidy I am pleased to announce the continuation of our health benefits for full-time students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. In 2007-2008, full-time graduate students will again be eligible for the medical and wellness services and the health insurance covered by the student health fee. The student health fee will cover expanded on-campus services as well as comprehensive health insurance. This fee will be mandatory for students who are eligible for the benefits. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will subsidize the health fee for most of its students; students eligible for the subsidy will pay less than nine percent of the fee. An explanation of the charge and subsidy is as follows: STUDENT HEALTH FEE COVERAGE WHO WILL BE COVERED: Full-time graduate students, defined as any of the following- 1. Students registered for 9 or more credit hours per semester 2. Students registered for 1-8 credit hours plus the continuing student fee 3. Students registered only for the continuing student fee WHO WILL NOT BE COVERED: Part-time graduate students, defined as either of the following- 1. Students registered for 1-8 credit hours without the continuing student fee 2. Students registered only for the non-resident candidate’s fee Ph.D. students in Engineering will not be covered under the ARts and Sciences
subsidy but will normally receive subsidized insurance through the School of
Engineering. The contact for this is Jessie Runiewicz, 935-6183 or jruniewicz@wustl.edu
COST:
(First semester charge will appear on a statement generated by Student Accounting September 28, 2007) Whether you are eligible for the health fee subsidy or not, your academic registration process should be completed before September 15, 2007. Also note that your purchase of optional insurance plans or discount programs must be made separately (visit the Student Health Services website at shs.wustl.edu for more information); enrollment in these options is not automatic, although full-time registration is a prerequisite. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences subsidizes the health fee for eligible international students to the same extent as for eligible domestic students. However, the health fee is as follows: YOUR COST:

The Dental/Vision card is being eliminated. The new dental insurance plan will have a solid, robust dental coverage with a vision discount component. The coverage will include semi-annual cleanings and oral evaluations, annual x-ray series, and coverage for fillings and other dental work.
