The Discipline for Pastoral Care Giving
by Arthur M. Lucas

The Medical Humanities & Social Sciences (MHSS) working group at Washington University in St. Louis invites the participation of scholars and clinicians with a wide range of interdisciplinary interests in medicine. MHSS provides a forum for faculty and students from five University divisions and more than ten departments to share their work and collaborate across institutional boundaries.

MHSS sponsors lectures, symposia, and reading groups that are open to the larger St. Louis area community, and it facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration on course offerings in the area of medical humanities and social sciences. With support from the Center for the Study of Human Values and the College of Arts and Sciences at Washington University, it sponsors visits to the Washington University campus by outstanding researchers in a wide variety of fields of interest.
