"Recite! In the Name of the Red Rose": Poetic Expressions of the Sacred in 20th Century Persian Poetry.
An in-depth study of the redefinition of spirituality in twentieth century Persian poetry. Through an analysis of the poems of leading contemporary Iranian poets, this work explores the formation of new spiritual paradigms and the formulation of literary strategies leading to a "modem" articulation of the spiritual. This study uncovers the deep desire for spiritual exploration beneath the self-consciously secular posture of the twentieth century Persian poetry.
